Responsibilities
* Lead conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates for electrical scopes across multiple project phases.
* Support budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, and value engineering activities for large, complex construction projects.
* Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on estimates, and manage workload planning and task allocation for estimating deliverables.
* Reconcile change orders, invoices, and cost impacts in collaboration with general contractors, subcontractors, and third parties.
* Provide post-contract cost support, including bid analysis, change management, and evaluation of cost impacts.
* Participate in risk and value management evaluations to identify opportunities for cost savings and risk mitigation.
* Mentor and support estimators and estimating technicians, strengthening their technical and procedural knowledge.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, reliable cost guidance, and responsive service.
* Prepare client-facing reports, milestone estimates, and executive-ready summaries that clearly communicate cost drivers and recommendations.
* Engage with internal stakeholders, project controls teams, and leadership to ensure alignment on budgets, assumptions, and project objectives.
* Participate in peer reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating processes, tools, and standards.
* Stay informed on local market conditions, construction trends, and industry best practices to ensure estimates reflect current conditions.
* Apply quantity surveying and cost consulting practices to support project budgets and commercial construction decision-making.
* Contribute to project management and construction management efforts by providing accurate and timely cost information throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating or cost management.
* Strong background in conceptual estimating and early project planning for large, complex construction projects.
* Deep technical understanding of electrical or mechanical scopes, systems, and construction practices.
* Proven experience supporting large, complex construction programs across multiple market sectors.
* Ability to read and interpret construction schedules, drawings, and specifications.
* Advanced proficiency with cost estimating methods, tools, and industry-standard practices.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort with modern estimating software.
* Experience working as an estimator or cost consultant in MEP or process-related construction environments.
* Ability to analyze incomplete or evolving design information and provide clear, defensible cost guidance.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare client-facing reports and executive summaries.
* Ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all estimating and cost management activities.
