Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at BW Design Group, you will work with a team of industry experts to design and implement control systems for clients in the food & beverage, consumer health, life sciences, and advanced technology sectors.
Responsibilities- Support capital projects and implement solutions for clients.
- Develop and design control systems.
- Provide engineering solutions for PLC/SCADA interface systems that meet safety and optimization requirements.
- Lead design and estimation for preliminary and detailed phases of projects.
- Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments.
- Design engineering solutions for equipment optimization.
- Design systems to monitor pressure, temperature, humidity, and flow in a manufacturing environment.
- Conduct root cause failure analyses.
- Document process requirements for instrumentation equipment.
- Interface effectively with engineering design team members and client representatives.
- Travel for project requirements including installation, start‑up activities, and industry conferences.
- Minimum of three years of experience leading I&C design and estimation for the programming phase of projects.
- Experience with Rockwell Automation hardware and software.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and process (MEP) systems and collaboration with MEP engineers.
- Experience with multi‑disciplinary large capital projects involving owners, general contractors, contractors, and system integrators.
- Sound understanding of design‑build (engineering and construction) and complex process systems architecture & design.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, device selection, networking, PLC & I/O architectures, P&, data sheets, and SCADA.
- Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as dry/wet mechanical, gas/chemical distribution, HVAC, and clean‑room environmental control.
- Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including reports and presentations.
- Willingness to travel.
- Bachelor of Science in electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or a degree emphasizing process control and instrumentation, or equivalent work experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred.
