About the Role
A Controls Engineer will design, configure, test, and commission automation solutions for high‑speed manufacturing processes. The role involves working with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver reliable control systems that meet performance and safety requirements.
Responsibilities- Develop automation solutions and participate in all project phases, from design specifications to configuration and testing.
- Create project documentation and drawings to meet client specifications, including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot automation problems and interface with teams, clients, and vendors.
- Configure software and hardware packages according to client design specifications.
- Program PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems (Factory Talk, Cimplicity, Wonderware, Ignition).
- Manage engineering projects, deliverables, schedules, scope, site construction, installation, and start‑up support.
- Validate and commission facility systems following established protocols and ensure successful turnover to customers.
- Communicate plan progress to project stakeholders.
- Travel as required for installation, start‑up, client meetings, training, and industry events.
- 3+ years of direct experience as a controls engineer in automated processes or system integration in food, beverage, consumer health, or other industrial manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in control system design, troubleshooting, and operation in high‑intensity environments.
- Experience creating and designing automation controls systems (PLC, SCADA) and understanding industrial control panel fabrication (UL508A).
- Solid knowledge of instrumentation and controls (I&C) and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with machine safety applications, electrical power distribution, and control panel design.
- Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication, including report generation and presentations.
- Willingness to travel for project requirements and industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or a related technical field (preferred).
Approximate pay range: $80,000 – $130,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as background, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
