About the Role
Our client is a private corporate office seeking an experienced accounting leader to lead their financial operations and supervise a dedicated team. Reporting directly to the owner, this role provides high-level oversight for both the core business and a suite of private family entities. It is an ideal position for a CPA who enjoys a blend of technical accounting, treasury management, and operational collaboration in a professional, family-office environment.
Job Duties
- Supervise a team of three accounting professionals while reporting directly to the owner to ensure high-quality administrative and financial output.
- Lead and participate in the full month-end close cycle, ensuring all journal entries and reconciliations are accurate and timely.
- Review and approve monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll schedules, and weekly check runs.
- Calculate and manage the distribution of employee bonuses, monthly cash reports, and partner distributions throughout the year.
- Perform comprehensive treasury duties, including the creation of wire transfers, ACH approvals, positive pay reviews, and management of online banking users.
- Coordinate and complete annual reporting requirements and audits, including 1099s and Workers' Compensation.
- Prepare detailed tax schedules for an outside firm to facilitate the timely completion of local, state, and federal tax returns.
- Ensure organizational compliance regarding personal property tax filings, business license renewals, and franchise tax submissions.
- Manage the general ledger for up to 12 separate family entities using Quick Books, ensuring all deposit and disbursement activities are recorded accurately.
- Monitor funding levels for all entities to ensure invoices are paid on time and make estimated tax payments as advised by external tax consultants.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead team projects to enhance departmental efficiency.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong background in leadership.
- Active CPA certification is preferred.
- Proven track record of managing and developing accounting staff.
- Experience with tax preparation and compliance.
- Professional oral and written communication skills with a focus on internal customer service.
- High level of organizational skill and the ability to manage multiple projects with concurrent deliverables.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to meeting strict financial deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams on special projects and non-recurring functions.
Salary: $150,000 - $165,000
