Instructor Conversational Spanish Class

This is a three-month volunteer position beginning September 1, 2023. The individual(s) will help non-native speakers of Spanish learn conversational Spanish that will enable them to be comfortable speaking with and understanding native Spanish speakers. Activities will include, but are not limited to:

• Teach life skills Spanish to primarily beginning-level students
• Prepare lessons appropriate for the students’ proficiency level
• Model natural, functional language for students
• Spend 1.5 to 2 hours per week in class with attendees
• Communicate with other volunteers and volunteer coordinators outside of the class and attend training sessions, if needed

Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability and

Experience:

• Prior experience teaching preferred
• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Ability to speak well and articulate in Spanish
• Interest in working with adult learners of Spanish
• Cross-cultural sensitivity and a desire to work with students from different cultural, educational and economic backgrounds
• Flexibility and patience
