Manages women's services activities, workflow and nursing resources.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects and analyzes pertinent health data to develop and implement an individualized plan of care including interventions and alternatives to attain expected, measurable outcomes for women and newborns.
  • Coordinates care delivery to promote woman‑, newborn‑ and family‑centered care within scope of practice.
  • Employs health teaching strategies that promote, maintain, or restore health within a safe environment.
  • Evaluates progress toward attainment of expected outcomes.
  • Determines decisions and actions on behalf of women, fetuses, and newborns in an ethical manner guided by a sound framework for ethical decision‑making.
  • Practices in a manner congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
  • Communicates and collaborates with women, families, health care providers, and community to provide safe and holistic care.
  • Serves as a role model, change agent, consultant, and mentor to women, families, healthcare consumers, and other health care professionals.
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge reflecting current evidence‑based nursing practice.
  • Generates or integrates evidence to evaluate interprofessional knowledge, theories, and approaches to care.
  • Implements new measures to improve nursing practice quality.
  • Evaluates own practice and participates in evaluation of others relative to standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, regulations.
  • Considers safety, effectiveness, technology, fiscal responsibility.
  • Practices safely and healthily in the environment.
  • Applies evidence‑based practice to women's services nursing.
  • Maintains alertness and works safely.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
Experience
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0‑25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and for color identification.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, alarms, machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25‑50 lbs.
  • Occasional moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
Required Professional License and/or Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Or Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Compact State
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – American Academy Pediatrics (AAP)
  • Or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials – American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
