Job Summary
Pre‑licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program who actively participates in the SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of a registered nurse, provides care to patients within the scope of role and professional standards. Responsible for the delivery of age‑appropriate care for assigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Eligible to practice as determined by the state board of nursing
- Less than one year of experience working as an RN (no experience required)
- Performs delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence and receives training as appropriate.
- Conducts patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age‑appropriate needs; evaluates signs of abuse or neglect; develops, evaluates, and modifies patient plans of care.
- Develops realistic, comprehensive patient and family education plans; provides health education and coaching.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation, processes physician orders, and ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates nursing care delivered by team members.
- Collaborates with physicians and other health‑care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Participates in required training and competency assessments; seeks assistance and asks questions to learn and understand the role.
- Demonstrates professional nursing standards and uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Maintains a constant state of alertness and safe practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- For Illinois, an official passing score on NCLEX.
- Illinois:
Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) from AHA; future BLS within 90 days; registered professional nurse within 3 months of NCLEX pass; official NCLEX pass letter. - Missouri and Oklahoma:
Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) from AHA; future BLS within 90 days; NCLEX results within 3 months of graduation; NCLEX test date within 30 days. - Wisconsin:
Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) from AHA; future BLS within 90 days; NCLEX results within 3 months of graduation; NCLEX test date within 30 days; WI nursing temporary permit.
Night shift (United States of America) – 7p.m. to 7a.m., varying nights with every third weekend, holiday requirement.
