Overview
Join Palm Beach State College as a Certified Continuing Professional (CCP) Instructor in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration (HVAC R) program. The instructor teaches college students, manages laboratory activities, and maintains accreditation standards. This grant‑funded position is open until filled; the initial review date is August 3, 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach courses and deliver online training content following published course outlines.
- Design and prepare curriculum, instructional materials, and assessment instruments.
- Conduct laboratory demonstrations of conduit destructive and non‑destructive analysis procedures.
- Assess student proficiency, evaluate performance, and prepare grade reports.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and course performance.
- Develop and administer final examinations.
- Follow safety practices and perform basic equipment maintenance in accordance with OSHA and related standards.
- Plan inventory needs and assist with specifications for purchasing materials and equipment.
- Manage hazardous materials in the lab environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- State or county HVACR journeyman license (or verifiable equivalent).
- NCCER Minimum Level Two HVACR certification, HVAC Excellence certification, or North American Technician Excellence certification.
- EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Recovery certification.
- Four years of verifiable field experience and two years of verifiable experience as a teacher or trainer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar applications.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and effective time‑management abilities.
- Bilingual English and Spanish written and spoken.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and related symbols.
- Technical ability to use the required technology for course delivery.
- Positive interaction with diverse student populations and varying education levels.
- HVACR journeyman license (state or county).
- NCCER Level Two HVAC‑R certification.
- HVAC Excellence certification.
- North American Technician Excellence certification.
- EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Recovery certification.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional.
- Attention to detail and strong time‑management.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and symbols.
- Technical proficiency with laboratory equipment and computer‑based systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
Lifting and carrying objects weighing 20–49 pounds and handling objects over 50 pounds; reaching, grasping, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling; standing for extended periods; use of a video display terminal; fine motor skills; and working in environments with extreme temperatures, noise levels, or other challenging conditions are required.
SalaryThe minimum base pay for this position starts at $52,500.00 annually; compensation may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
