The City of Greenacres’ Compensation Plan allows hiring at a maximum rate of up to 15% above the minimum salary range for this position. The rate depends on education, experience, and valid certification obtained through extensive study and training beyond the minimum requirements.
Requirements- Graduated from an accredited high school or possess a State of Florida G.E.D. certificate or equivalent.
- Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
- Demonstrate good moral character.
- Submit to a post‑offer physical examination; employment contingent on the results.
- Coordinate and oversee assigned code enforcement processes and ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Respond to, investigate, and log citizen complaints from telephone or walk‑in inquiries; perform inspections and handle special cases to seek compliance.
- Inspect and follow up on approved temporary signs and use permits to ensure compliance with conditions and the code.
- Inspect City properties and follow up with code enforcement officers to ensure compliance with various City codes and regulations, including approved site plans, landscaping plans, Business Tax Receipt requirements, and other conditions.
- Log and follow up on elevated or complex code cases requiring heightened review and oversight.
- Investigate and document violations of City codes and ordinances.
- Process courtesy and warning notices, notices of violations, and/or citations.
- Prepare Special Magistrate paperwork, including agendas, affidavits, case history recaps, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Appear before the Special Magistrate as necessary to present case testimony and evidence.
- Assist the Code Supervisor with special projects as needed.
- Follow up on fines and liens imposed by the Special Magistrate to ensure timely enforcement of orders.
- Identify legal property ownership or other parties to verify proper notice requirements.
- Prepare documentation for submission to City Attorney for imposition and release of municipal liens.
- Perform administrative tasks supporting the Code Enforcement Division functions.
- Establish and maintain activity files and prepare reports as needed.
- Write and ensure entries for Code Corner reminders are placed in City newsletters.
- Maintain the Division page(s) on the City Website and Intranet with current information.
- Maintain Division records, including scanning and filing documents per City and statutory requirements, and complete annual records destruction in coordination with the Department Records Specialist.
- Engage the public regularly; communicate courteous, professional, and tactful at all times.
- Establish rapport with community groups and civic organizations through meetings, speeches, and presentations.
- Conduct research for special projects as assigned.
- Notify the Supervisor of any issues or concerns that need high‑level attention.
- Maintain comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations and stay aware of new trends and advances in the profession.
- Represent the City at meetings when requested.
- Consult with City Attorney in preparation of code enforcement cases.
- Collaborate with other City, County, and State agencies to enforce violations.
- Provide assistance to other employees as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Principles and practices of local government administration.
- Principles and practices of employment supervision, employee development, and performance evaluations.
- Computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other programs.
- Customer service practices and procedures, office terminology, methods, and procedures.
- State of Florida public records laws.
- Records management practices and procedures.
- Current technology and software applications appropriate to the assigned responsibilities.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least two (2) years of experience in code enforcement or a closely related field, ensuring compliance with municipal, county, state, or federal laws and codes pertaining to zoning, health, sanitation, building, licensing, criminal justice, or similar. The position may also consider comparable roles with substantial public contact and investigative knowledge.
- Maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Hold Level 1 Certification in Fundamentals of Code Enforcement by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E). Ability to obtain additional F.A.C.E. certification six months after employment.
- Maintain a minimum of sixteen continuing education credits every two years.
