Position Overview

Client Technology Specialist II – responsible for supporting students, faculty and staff with the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of classroom technology, audiovisual systems and computer equipment. The role includes client liaison, problem escalation, and coordination with vendors and other departments.

Responsibilities
  • Support clients in classroom technology usage and protocol, including setup, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of college media and A/V systems and computer equipment.
  • Provide support for complex audiovisual room design, multimedia equipment installation and A/V system integration for new construction and retrofits.
  • Install, modify and troubleshoot microcomputer hardware, servers, software applications, peripherals and network infrastructure from workstation to patch panel.
  • Install cabling systems, control systems and media equipment for complex technical equipment.
  • Configure multimedia equipment for correct operation and design/fabricate connection systems for multimedia facilities.
  • Support departments, other campuses, off‑site locations, and college functions that may require travel.
  • Accurately log and update service tickets and provide escalation to the next level of response as needed.
  • Apply security measures for physical access to hardware, data protection and confidentiality of user passwords.
  • Coordinate job‑related activities between college departments and external organizations, and arrange vendor repair and maintenance.
  • Join and remove computers from network directory services (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory).
  • Function in an on‑call capacity for hardware, software and network repairs during normal hours or when the college is closed.
  • Participate in inventory control activities, tracking software and hardware assets.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend changes in hardware, software and communications to improve system capabilities; may include development of new system applications.
  • Provide consultation and assistance within the area of expertise, and serve as a backup for other staff duties as required.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework, or related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications, PC fundamentals, basic networking concepts, PA systems, AV control systems and multimedia systems.
  • Attention to detail, effective time‑ and task‑management, and ability to set up and operate multimedia equipment.
  • Skill in installing and troubleshooting PC hardware, software and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to build relationships, manage expectations and maintain a high level of service.
Licenses, Registration, Certifications or

Special Requirements
  • Regular physical attendance required.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license (required).
  • Preferred:
    CompTIA A+ and Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) – Windows Operating System Fundamentals.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20–49 pounds and reach, grasp, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Stand for extended periods, use video display terminals and fine motor skills.
  • Communicate and understand information orally and in writing; proofread documents for accuracy.
  • Work in environments with extreme temperature, high noise levels and other adverse conditions.
  • Operate a motor vehicle and work a fluctuating work schedule.
