Seasonal Winter Laborer

Job Description

Ela Township Highway Department is accepting applications for the position of winter seasonal worker. The position assists the Department in snow and ice removal operations. This position requires the employee to work outside in all types of weather conditions. Safety is the most important responsibility. Hours of work will vary during November through April for snow and ice control. Snow and ice removal is a 24-hour on-call operation.

There is a maximum yearly hour limit of 900 hours.

Candidate will possess the ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to operate snowplow trucks with plows, hand shoveling, and salting sidewalks. Candidates should be reliable and show up on time. Positive, motivated work ethic. Candidate must be able to regularly lift and/or carry objects weighing 25 pounds.

Candidate must have a satisfactory driving record. Requires a high school diploma or GED; formal training, special courses, self-education, or specialized advanced training in this field is preferred. Requires at least 1 year’s experience in an equivalent work experience.
