The JIIM Instructor/SME delivers dynamic education and expert instruction on the interaction of joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational organizations in the international environment for USAF and partner agency personnel. Responsible for curriculum development and delivery, the JIIM SME maintains subject matter relevance, conducts comprehensive evaluations, engages across diverse communities, and ensures comprehensive and practical learning outcomes. This position is essential in preparing Air Advisors to operate collaboratively and effectively across global domains and mission areas.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Meet minimum USAF EOS Student and Qualified Instructor requirements at government expense and in accordance with EOS-established policy.
- Serve as the focal point and SME in their respective discipline. When qualified, be prepared to assist and teach lessons in other disciplines as determined by the Site Manager.
- Provide technical support, planning, consultation, analysis, and expert advice to establish, maintain, and improve their respective area’s instruction.
- Develop, update, revise, and deliver their respective area’s curriculum and courseware within USAF EOS-established policy.
- Provide instruction on National Security Strategy, DoD regulations, Irregular Warfare, and more.
- Ensure the most current student education and training materials are used and are provided to each student at the beginning of each lesson, as required (PWS 1.4.2.1.5).
- Produce, assemble, and manage student materials as required to include paper and/or electronic (DVDs, etc.) based training materials provided by the Government.
- Prepare classroom for instruction and ensure academic equipment, projectors, televisions, computer learning stations, etc., including uploading of computer-based training, if applicable, are functional.
- Begin each lesson on time and teach for the prescribed amount of time in accordance with the student schedule unless the COR authorizes a schedule deviation.
- Perform instruction/demonstration and student evaluations as required by the syllabi and lesson plan. Maintain satisfactory or above government-administered instructor evaluations.
- Review learning objectives with students in preparation for examinations.
- Follow USAF EOS-established policy for make-up/remedial instruction for missed classes or failed examinations.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and symposiums on topics related to their area of expertise and participate in instructor professional development.
- Be prepared to teach lessons as directed by the Site Manager to balance instructor workload and to meet mission requirements.
- Provide instruction and evaluations to students on interrelationships for a wide variety of organizations operating in the international environment including joint and coalition military partners, Non-Governmental Organizations, Inter Governmental Organizations, International Organizations, US Embassy staffs and Country Teams.
- Teach subjects such as, but not limited to International Organizations, Interagency Functions, Building Strategic Networks, Partner Nation Security Institutions, Partner Nation Government Structures and Legal Awareness, Organizational Awareness, etc.
- Liaison with functional community’s subject matter experts, including Air Force Geographic Component Commands and other functional commands; HAFs, MAJCOMs, C-NAFs, other services; interagency, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to ensure curriculum remains relevant and current.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to obtain/maintain Secret Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship/Residency required.
- Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license.
- Fluent English, advanced communication skills.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
