The Electrical Systems Engineer supports the integration of complex electronic and electrical systems in military aircraft, including communications, navigation, satellite, GPS, RF, weapon systems, and other mission-critical equipment. This role leads electrical systems design and aircraft integration activities, ensures compliance with technical requirements, and supports testing and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and integration of electrical and electronic systems into military aircraft, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility with existing platforms.
- Support the integration of communications, navigation, satellite, GPS, RF, weapon systems, and other mission systems and equipment into aircraft.
- Interpret and apply customer Statements of Work (SOW), system specifications, technical manuals, and related documentation to determine electrical system implementation and interface requirements.
- Perform systems integration activities, including calculation of electrical system requirements, power distribution, and electrical interface requirements for aircraft installations.
- Develop and review electrical system architectures, wiring concepts, and integration strategies to meet performance, safety, and reliability objectives.
- Conduct or support testing of electrical systems and equipment as required by project plans, including integration, functional, and verification testing.
- Analyze and address issues related to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Vulnerability (EMV) interaction and effects in aircraft systems.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical documents, including reports, design descriptions, test procedures, and test results.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to coordinate electrical design with mechanical, structural, and systems engineering activities.
- Use 3D CAD tools such as Solid Works and Creo to support electrical system integration, equipment layout, and interface definition.
- Apply strong analytical skills to troubleshoot electrical integration issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify requirements, present findings, and support design reviews.
- Utilize standard office and engineering software, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, to prepare presentations, documentation, and analysis.
- Ensure that all work complies with applicable standards, specifications, and project requirements.
- Maintain the ability to meet all requirements necessary to obtain and retain a U.S. Government security clearance.
