Graduate Assistant – BCMT Admin Support (Standard) Fall term
Location:
Lakeland Main Campus, Lakeland, FL 33801.
Entry-level seasonal/temporary position for graduate students. Position is term-to-term and may not continue beyond the academic year.
Benefits- Tuition: 75% off for 6–9 credit hours per semester
- Maximum work hours per week: 20 hours
- Term availability:
Fall, Spring and Summer terms - Stipend: $2,000 per term
- Must clock in/out daily (non‑exempt)
- General and tech fees covered at 100%
- 5 meals per week (available when cafeteria open; not available during summer and certain holidays)
- Departmental Support: Assist with departmental administrative and project‑related duties as assigned.
- Student Culture: Serve as a role model, exemplifying university values and student conduct standards.
- Instructional Support (if applicable): Assist faculty in preparing course materials, grading, and mentoring undergraduate students.
- Administrative Assistance: Perform scheduling, correspondence management, file maintenance, and other tasks to ensure efficient department operations.
- Special Projects: Contribute to special projects or initiatives as directed by supervisor or department leadership.
Availability: 20 hours per week with flexibility around academic commitments.
Qualifications- Required
Education:
Completed bachelor’s degree and accepted into a SEU Graduate Program. - Required Experience: No experience required.
- Additional Requirements: Availability 20 hours per week; familiarity with department‑specific software and tools; training provided.
- Departmental Support:
- Knowledge: Understanding of departmental processes and procedures.
- Skills: Proficiency in research techniques, data management, and analysis tools.
- Abilities: Ability to manage records and assist in project management for smooth departmental operation.
- Student Culture:
- Knowledge: Awareness of university values, standards, and student conduct expectations.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Abilities: Serve as a role model, promoting a respectful and inclusive culture.
- Instructional Support (if applicable):
- Knowledge: Familiarity with course content and instructional methods, grading, and mentoring practices.
- Skills: Ability to assist in preparing course materials, grading, and providing academic guidance.
- Abilities: Collaborate with faculty to enhance student learning experiences.
- Administrative Assistance:
- Knowledge: Understanding of administrative processes such as scheduling, correspondence, and document organization.
- Skills: Proficient in office software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) and organizational tools.
- Abilities: Manage multiple tasks effectively and complete assignments timely.
- Special Projects:
- Knowledge: Awareness of departmental initiatives and projects.
- Skills: Strong problem‑solving and project management skills.
- Abilities: Work independently or collaboratively to complete tasks on time.

Physical Requirements- Sit for extended periods using a computer keyboard.
- Occasionally reach and stand for extended periods.
- Good close vision to see details on a screen.
- Minimal heavy lifting or strenuous activity unless otherwise specified.
No travel required.
ScheduleTo be determined by supervisor/departmental need and aligned with student school schedule.
TrainingAll new hires and transfers will undergo a 90‑day probationary period to learn job functions. Required compliance training will be provided as needed.
Safety- Employees must complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
- Report unsafe conditions or near‑miss incidents to supervisor and Risk Management.
- Work‑related injuries must be reported to Security and Human Resources, and to HR within 24 hours.
- Employees must serve for emergencies as required; no dismissal or closure applies to this position unless directed.
All graduate assistant positions require background checks. Employees who drive personal or university vehicles must pass an MVR check.
