SEU's Risk Management department is seeking FWS student workers for the  school year. Applicants must be a returning Southeast University student and available to work between 10-20 hours per week, during business hours. Please note that this job will be open until positions are filled. Total hours accumulated cannot exceed 29 hours for regular students and 20 for international students.

Organizational Relationships

Risk Manager

Risk Management Functions
  • Assist the Risk Manager in administrating all lines of property, casualty, auto, and liability insurance policies and claims.
  • Assists with claim reporting and insurance renewals.
  • Assists with the coordination of information from outside entities and internal customers.
  • Assists with risk management training.
  • Coordinates certificates of insurance.
  • Creates an excellent customer service culture.
  • Creates reports for distribution as scheduled.
  • Exercises a great degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues involving and processing claims, insurance data, driver motor vehicle reports, and claim litigation.
  • Independently performs routine audits of various risk management program activities and recommends changes to address issues.
  • Maintains various databases, including but not restricted to claims, drivers, property, vehicles, and claims.
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as setting up new files and maintaining electronic files for the University’s risk management files, including Certificate of Insurance documents.
  • Processes insurance payment requests as assigned.
  • Processes University driver applications and maintains Motor Vehicle Report database.
  • Researches problems to provide answers and guides end‑users through corrective steps.
  • Supports verification that employees have completed assigned Risk Management training.
Reporting and Technical Functions
  • Pulls data to develop recurring or one‑time reports from insurance software portals and other software applications as necessary.
  • Maintains databases, spreadsheets, and other tools used in data analysis.
  • Participates in auditing and reporting for insurance renewal and other insurance‑related initiatives.
General Administrative Functions
  • Assists Risk Manager with general office functions (payment request, supply ordering, copier, etc.).
  • Advises Risk Manager on the progress of projects assigned, anticipated problems, and completion of tasks assigned.
  • Provides other services as directed by the Risk Manager.
Customer Service Functions
  • Develops the ability to consistently deliver positive, responsible, and courteous service to internal and external customers through training and practice.
  • Learns to effectively handle service issues by actively listening to the customer’s concerns, identifying root causes, proposing solutions, quickly resolving, and following up to ensure complete resolution.
  • Develops strong integrity and cultivates a positive team environment, with capacity to improve customer service and collaboration skills.
