Benefits Mail Services Support - Barcoder
The purpose of this position is to support the benefits department by evaluating and barcoding incoming mail, determining document type priority, and processing returned mail and historical records. This involves using multiple systems to verify participant, plan, and document types. The responsibilities listed on this position analysis are not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Opening, researching, barcoding and distributing all mail received into Benefits to ensure the documents will be accurately scanned for processing
- Reviewing and processing beneficiary designation cards and change of address requests
- Processing and verifying returned mail
- This position is responsible for various other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- One year of office or mail room experience, office experience includes customer service or front desk experience; mail room experience includes familiarity with handling/scanning incoming correspondence
- Knowledge of departmental equipment (shredder, fax machine, time stamp, copier, envelope folder)
- Flexibility/adaptability
- Ability to work independently

- Basic skill level in Microsoft word, excel, and outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six months proficiency as a Benefits Mail Support scanner or one year of experience with the administration of group, retirement, and/or stock plans or similar experience scanning documents into an online document management system
- Knowledge of Publix benefits plans, including but not limited to, understanding administrative policies, procedures and turnaround deadlines for transaction processing for the group benefits, retirement and stockholder services departments
- Knowledge of barcode generator and Viewstar
- Basic skill level in Microsoft Access
- Knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of READ and Retirement HOST systems
- Knowledge of Stock management system
- Knowledge of Vendor web portals (401(k) Sponsor Connect, Once Source)
Hours of Work: 8:30AM - 5:00PM;
Monday through Friday
Frequency of Pay:
Weekly
Minimum Base Pay: 18.35
Maximum Base Pay: 25.35
Potential Annual Base Pay: 38,168 - 52,728
Year End Bonus:
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay.
