Construction Estimator

The Construction / Project Estimator prepares detailed cost estimates and proposals for commercial projects by reviewing plans, specifications, and related documents. The role includes quantity take-offs, labor/material/equipment cost analysis, schedule and budget development, and full client proposal presentations. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, supervisors, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and refine scope, tracks cost data, updates estimates as changes occur and communicates recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

This is an on-site role based in Lakeland, FL.

• Lead development of estimates for projects of varying sizes; own project-specific scope and strategy.
• Analyze contract documents and specifications to determine project requirements and identify missing information.
• Complete full quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Produce conceptual estimates, full proposals, and client presentations for CM and design-build pursuits.
• Establish pursuit schedules and drive a winning mentality across pursuits.
• Perform risk/opportunity analyses for bids using project and industry knowledge.
• Manage bid document control from ITB through project turnover; document, organize, and archive estimate materials.
• Execute bid-day assignments to close scopes and finalize bids.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to create site logistics plans, execution schedules, and project budgets.
• Prepare final cost estimates, critical path schedules, and submit for team/client review.
• Lead, mentor, and coach direct and indirect reports.

• Bachelor’s degree, diploma in related discipline, trade experience, or equivalent.
• 4–8 years commercial construction cost estimating experience (retail & industrial preferred). Field experience is a plus.
• Experience leading pursuits up to approx. $100M across various delivery methods.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, quality, and safety.
• Deep understanding of bid preparation, quantity takeoff procedures, subtrade procurement, pricing, general expense philosophy, and bid-closing procedures.
• Experience estimating multiple scopes and developing conceptual estimates.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office; comfortable adopting new technology.
• Self‑motivated, integrity-driven, and takes ownership of work.
• Must be able to work on-site in Lakeland, FL and manage multiple estimates/deadlines.
