** JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
** The student worker - Phoenix STEM Academy Student Mentor supports the delivery of engaging and hands-on summer camp experiences for students participating in Phoenix STEM Academy programs. Working under the supervision of program leadership, Student Mentors assist with interactive STEM lessons, support campers throughout the day, and help create a fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity and interest in STEM fields.

** JOB DESCRIPTION

* RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

*** Support and help lead interactive STEM activities, experiments, and lessons using provided curriculum and materials.
* Assist with supervising assigned groups of campers to ensure a safe, positive, and engaging experience.
* Work collaboratively with other student mentors, faculty, and staff to support daily camp operations.
* Help manage transitions between activities and keep campers engaged throughout the day.
* Adapt to schedule or activity changes with flexibility and professionalism.
* Assist with light administrative and logistical tasks such as camper check-in, material setup, and general supervision.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*** Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Must be in good academic standing.
* Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
* Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
** REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:
*** This position requires a criminal background check.
* This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

WORK SCHEDULE:

** Temporary position running June 6, 2026 – July 25, 2026
* Camp sessions:  + June 6-12  + June 22-26  + July 13-17  + July 20-24
* Staff would only work during camp weeks (including training/debrief), not continuously throughout the entire date range.
+ For example, Camp #1 staff would work June 6-13, then return June 20-27 for Camp #2. Staff would return on July 11-18 for Camp #3 and then return for Camp #4 on July 18-25.
** EXPECTED STARTING SALARY****:** $500.00 stipend for each camp worked.
