Position TitleTRST, ESOL Services
Custom Job PurposeThis position exists to perform responsible work in planning, training, organizing, disseminating, and communicating information to para educators and educational support personnel. Coordinates various other professional development and training activities as needed.
Essential Functions- Assists in identifying and reporting the strengths and weaknesses of the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) training programs for school personnel.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and delivery of ESOL training.
- Designs and implements ESOL training for bilingual paraprofessionals who work with the ESOL Program.
- Selects and provides needed materials to support ESOL training program activities.
- Acts as a resource to the schools regarding ESOL instructional support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and teaching certification in subject specialty. A minimum of five (5) years' teaching experience in subject area is required.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of existing requirements and programs for non‑instructional personnel. Ability to plan, organize and direct activities for para educators and educational support personnel. Ability to prepare records and reports and establish and maintain effective working relationships with various groups of employees as well as the public and school and district administrators. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Work ContextRequires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires use of alternative communication systems such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face‑to‑face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.
Physical EnvironmentRequires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
