POSITION SUMMARY
Graduate Assistant - Coaching Internship are student workers who contribute to the mission of Southeast University while pursuing their graduate studies in athletics. Coaching Internships positions are GAs that are athletic coaches. Internship is defined by DOL, and factors ACA. Requirements to include capstone measurement and each position must be in alignment with program of study.

BENEFIT OPTIONS

Option 1:

  • Tuition = 75% off for 6-9 credit hours per semester
  • Work hours per week = 29+ hours
  • Available for fall and spring terms
  • Housing is based upon availability.
  • Stipend = $3,000 for fall and spring
  • Non-exempt position:
    Must clock in/out each day to track hours worked.
  • General and tech fees - covered at 100% (fees waived)
  • 5 meals per week (when available/cafeteria open); meal plan is not available during summer and on some holidays.

Option 2:

  • Tuition = 100% off for 6-9 credit hours per semester
  • Work hours per week = 29+ hours
  • Available for fall and spring terms
  • Housing is not included (Purchase separately, based upon availability and current rate)
  • Stipend = $2,000 for fall and spring terms
  • Non-exempt position:
    Must clock in/out each day to track hours worked.
  • General and tech fees - covered at 100% (fees waived)
  • 5 meals per week (when available/cafeteria open); meal plan is not available during summer and on some holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(other duties may be assigned)

  • Departmental Support – Assist in departmental-specific administrative and project-related duties, as assigned by supervisor.
  • Student Culture – Serve as a role model, exemplifying Southern University’s values and standards for student conduct.
  • Administrative Assistance – Perform various administrative tasks, which may include scheduling, managing correspondence, maintaining files, and ensuring efficient department operations.
  • Special Projects – Contribute to special projects or initiatives as assigned by the supervisor or department leadership.

ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Availability to work 29+ hours per week
, with flexibility around academic commitments. Familiarity with platforms such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, JICS, MyFire, statistical software, and/or learning management systems, specific to the position.

All remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position. Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.

A completed bachelor’s degree and acceptance into a Southern University Graduate Program.

Additional Requirements:

Familiarity with department-specific software and tools, as required. Training to be provided.
