Tutor
A Tutor possesses special skills or training in a specific subject area or field, who is employed to provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement. A tutor may be a currently enrolled Polk State College student or a person with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, or an equivalent number of credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university.
Tutors must demonstrate proficiency in the subjects in which they tutor and have taken and passed with a grade of "B" or better in the course(s) in which they will tutor.
- Provide individual or small group instructional reinforcement for disabled students.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times regarding student, office records, and information.
- Performs all tasks with a friendly, professional work attitude at all times.
Required Skills:
- Good reading and writing skills
- Ability to write legibly
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with patience
- Ability to work well with a diverse student population
- Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- Good judgment
Required Education:
Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent).
Preferred Education:
A.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Tutors are allowed to work a maximum of 25 hours per week. Please note that positions may not be available at the current time. Candidates will be contacted as positions become available.
