The Visiting Instructor of Marketing is a visiting, fulltime faculty position for the Spring 2027 semester that teaches three sections of 4-credit undergraduate courses in the marketing program. Specific need areas include Principles of Marketing, Event Management, and Integrated Marketing Communications. The position also mentors students, participates in department and college activities, and engages with the business community. Teaching excellence, engaged learning, an applied orientation and collegiality are highly valued and expected of all Florida Southern College faculty.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS
  • Providing instruction in the marketing program to meet the needs of the School.
  • Maintaining positive relationships and actively collaborate with organizations serving the marketing program.
  • Demonstrating collaboration, collegiality, and support for program excellence.
  • Providing mentoring for students to advance student success.
  • Contributing to ongoing curriculum and program improvements.
  • Contributes to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.
  • EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
    • PhD or DBA in Marketing from an AACSB accredited business school is preferred.
    • Or Graduate Degree in Business with coursework in Marketing, and current or recent industry experience in Marketing.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking while teaching classes, conducting meetings, advising students, and performing administrative duties. Regular use of a computer and other office technology is necessary for preparing course materials, grading assignments, conducting research, and communicating electronically. The role may require speaking for extended periods during lectures and presentations, as well as the ability to hear and engage effectively in classroom discussions and meetings.

    Occasional lifting or carrying of materials such as textbooks, laptops, presentation equipment, or instructional supplies up to 15–25 pounds may be required. The position may also involve travel between campus locations and occasional attendance at conferences, professional development events, or off-site academic activities.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    The working environment for an Instructor of Marketing is primarily indoors within a professional academic setting that includes classrooms, lecture halls, offices, conference rooms, and meeting spaces. The position involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders in both individual and group settings. Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled environment with regular use of computers, audiovisual equipment, and other instructional technology.

    Responsibilities may include evening or occasional weekend hours to accommodate classes, student events, recruitment activities, or college functions. The role may also require attendance at conferences, community engagement events, or professional meetings both on and off campus. The environment is generally low risk; however, the position may involve periods of increased activity and deadlines associated with grading, curriculum development, accreditation activities, and academic scheduling.

    Personal protective equipment (PPE) is not typically required because the work is generally performed in a standard office and classroom environment with minimal exposure to hazardous conditions.
