Job Summary

This position is a full-time, 12-month teaching position requiring a teaching load of 27 hours per academic year. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the faculty member will serve on committees and fulfill additional functions, as assigned by the chief nurse administrator. Teaching will primarily consist of the instruction for the ADN program, which includes evenings and weekends. However, teaching for the BSN program may also be required.

Faculty rank is commensurate with education and level of nursing education experience.

Essential Duties
- May include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Classroom and clinical teaching
  • Simulation and lab responsibilities
  • Committee responsibilities, as designated
  • Program development responsibilities that correlate with level of experience
  • Attendance at university functions, faculty meetings and other events, as required
  • Chapel attendance as time permits, in accordance with teaching schedule
  • Student advising after first year of teaching

A minimum of 5 years professional nursing experience in the field as an RN is required.

Preferred: A minimum of 2 years nursing education experience is preferred. Experience in the fields of medical-surgical, critical care, pediatrics, maternal-child, and psychiatric nursing is desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Teaching, Advising, SIM/LAB
  • Medical-surgical and critical care knowledge is required
  • Ability to teach across the curriculum.
  • Personal commitment to teach in a Christian university and be in agreement with the mission of Southeastern University
Work Environment

Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility:
    Ability to walk for extended periods and stand for 8–12 hours.

    Hand-eye coordination for handling equipment, such as syringes, computers, and medical devices.

    Ability to perceive smells (e.g., in clinical safety situations)

    Exposure to clinical environments, which may include blood, bodily fluids, and potential needle sticks.
  • Hazards:
    Ability to work in potentially stressful environments.
  • Scheduling:
    Must be able to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, as needed for course instruction.

    Ability to travel to various clinical sites
