JOB SUMMARY The Southeastern University College of Natural and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Faculty for the Mathematics department. Priority duties in the role include teaching courses in Math at the undergraduatelevel. The successful candidate will recruit and develop Math majors, supervise student teachers and field studies, and complete other duties matching the candidate’s expertise according to department need.

Salary and Rank:
Commensurate with experience.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:

Dean of College of Natural and Health Sciences/Chair of Mathematics Department Supervisory Responsibility: N/AESSENTIAL DUTIES
- May include, but is not limited to the following:

Teach a range of undergraduate Math courses such as Algebra, Statistics, Calculus, or related fields.

Develop and deliver faith-integrated curriculum using innovative and diverse teaching methods.

Advise and mentor undergraduate students in their academic and professional development.

Leverage professional experience to provide students with practical, real-world insights.

Contribute to the growth of SEU’s undergraduate Mathematics programs through curriculum development, accreditation support, and collaboration with colleagues.

Engage in departmental and university activities, including service on committees and participation in campus events.

Support SEU’s mission and values through service, collaboration, and community engagement.

ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIESAll remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position. Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.

Education:

Master's degree in Mathematics or a Master’s degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate level credit hours in pure mathematics.

Preferred Education:

Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Mathematics or Mathematics EducationLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONSN/AEXPERIENCE (Teaching or Industry)

Required:

A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in higher education

Preferred:

Three or more years of teaching or professional experience in mathematics or a related field KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

Teaching and advising

Strong foundational knowledge in mathematics (e.g., algebra, statistics, calculus)
Ability to teach across the mathematics curriculum

Demonstrated advanced level of oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to meet required attendance and submission deadlines

Ability to create, articulate, and assess course learning outcomes

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations

Demonstrated ability to manage effective, friendly, and civil working relationships with staff, faculty, students, alumni, guests, and others at the university

Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work while working independently

- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Academic Processes
- Knowledge of university guidelines, course descriptions, and academic terminology.

Clerical
- Knowledge of office administrative procedures including word processing, managing files and records, typing, and other office procedures.

Computer
- Knowledge of basic computer processes including word processing, web browsing, Google enterprise software (Google docs, Google sheets, etc.), and Microsoft Office including Basic Microsoft Excel.

Skills Critical Thinking
- Uses logic and reasoning to look at different types of information in order to make conclusions and work through problems.
