Secondary Teacher (Co-Lead Environment) at a Montessori Public Charter School
Job Title:
Magnolia Montessori is seeking a full‑time guide to join our Secondary Classroom (ages 12–14). We are looking for a motivated and collaborative educator who is committed to learning and implementing the Montessori philosophy. This position is part of a co‑lead teaching model, where teachers work closely together to support the academic, social, and developmental needs of adolescents. The ideal candidate values teamwork, shared leadership, and reflective practice.
They will partner with the Secondary teaching team to plan, guide, and facilitate meaningful learning experiences while fostering a respectful, engaging, and student‑centered classroom community. Candidates must be able to build genuine relationships with adolescent students, maintain a positive and professional attitude, and demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Montessori teacher training, including a summer residency and a year‑long internship.
- Ongoing collaboration with experienced Montessori educators and the Secondary teaching team.
- Opportunities to coach and be coached within a professional learning community that models Montessori principles.
- Professional development focused on adolescent development, Montessori pedagogy, and collaborative teaching practices.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field
- Valid Florida Teaching Certificate
- Middle Grades Certification (Grades 5–9) in Mathematics and/or Science
- Candidates with certification in one content area must be willing to obtain certification in the other content area within an agreed‑upon timeframe
- Commitment to learning and implementing the Montessori philosophy
- Love of learning and personal growth
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Deep respect for children and individual learning styles
- Ability to contribute positively within a co‑lead classroom environment
- Willingness to collaboratively plan, coordinate, and participate in quarterly field studies and educational travel experiences as part of the Secondary Montessori curriculum
- Ability to supervise students in off‑campus learning environments and occasional overnight trips, as needed
- Certification in both Middle Grades Mathematics and Science
- Experience teaching middle school students
- Interest in interdisciplinary and project‑based learning
