Youth Build Lakeland is a full-time six-month program in which young adults who are 18-24 years of age work to improve their lives in a variety of ways. While in the program, participants receive classroom instruction to prepare for the GED exam.
Responsibilities:Youth Build Lakeland is a full-time six-month program in which young adults who are 18-24 years of age work to improve their lives in a variety of ways. While in the program, participants receive classroom instruction to prepare for the GED exam. There is also a strong emphasis placed on personal development, job placement, leadership development, and community service. The teacher will report to the Youth Build Senior Program Manager.
Manage, coordinate, and oversee the daily operations of the Youth Build Lakeland program. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff as well as the recruitment and selection of program trainees. Provide ongoing leadership, teamwork, and career development training to create positive change consistent with program objectives. Conduct needs based assessments toward the creation of a comprehensive program curriculum for the development of trainees.
Manage budgets, write grants, develop partnerships in the community, and ensure full compliance with all grant policies and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Psychology, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred 5-7 years’ experience working with children in an educational setting Bi-lingual a plus (Spanish)
- Must possess or can obtain a valid first aid/CPR card
- Must possess a strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills and enable them to make a difference in their community
- Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multi-racial and multi-cultural group of young people. Understanding the issues facing young people in the community where the program is located and a willingness to learn from young people
- Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of issues, people and institutions
- Knowledge of human service, health, court and criminal justice systems’ programs, regulations, procedures and alternative programs
