Campus Health & Wellness Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Campus Health & Wellness Educator supports health promotion and education for the University.

The Campus Health & Wellness Educator promotes, coordinates, develops, implements, and evaluates health programming on campus. With an emphasis on wellness, mental health, hazing prevention, alcohol, drugs, sex education, and sexual violence. The role will involve participation in non-clinical support and case management services. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of CARE services, supporting individuals throughout campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as a content expert in the coordination, development, and facilitation of health promotion on campus.
  • Develops education programs for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Manages the Peer Educators to conduct programming and educational opportunities.
  • Coordinates the creation and distribution of marketing and promotional materials for campus health, with emphasis on wellness, mental health, hazing prevention, alcohol, drugs, sex education, and sexual violence.
  • Creates online content to broaden the University's health and wellness campus education.
  • Plans campus health and wellness outreach programs, seminars, and presents training and outreach materials.
  • Identifies resources and funding sources and may assist in drafting applications.
  • Assists in conducting needs assessments for students seeking mental health counseling.
  • Assists in responding to inquiries for support, explains process and policies, and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Provides CARE support for Residential Life and Housing Operations, including participation in the on-call emergency response rotation.
  • May perform other duties as assigned which are relevant to the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience
  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in higher education, counseling, social work, public health, or related field
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrated experience developing and accessing educational campaigns
  • Articulated understanding of trends and issues in collegiate mental health and wellness
  • Ability to work within high-traffic and crisis situations
  • Strong teaching and technical skills.
  • Proven experience in development of supplemental instructional materials.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute
    * 435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

This position is exempt/salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.

-5:00 p.m. However, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required.
