Job Description
Dewberry is seeking a Project Manager – Water/Wastewater to join our Lakeland or Orlando, FL office. This role centers on leading municipal water treatment engineering efforts and serving as the primary technical expert for a diverse portfolio of water treatment plant projects across Florida. The ideal candidate has experience with municipal drinking water projects and a broad understanding of various design aspects, though engineers with any level of relevant experience are encouraged to apply if they are motivated to focus on water treatment work.
In this position, the engineer collaborates within a multidisciplinary team and plays a key role in directing technical efforts, including performing calculations, contributing to modeling, preparing technical proposals and reports, conducting research and pilot studies, providing QA/QC, and mentoring junior engineers and designers. Projects span many types of water treatment challenges—such as iron and manganese removal, PFAS treatment, filtration, disinfection byproducts, reverse osmosis, ozone systems, and water softening—and often incorporate innovative technologies supported by the company’s extensive engineering expertise.
- Assist with developing and managing water/wastewater projects with a focus on treatment, collection, and distribution systems. Work includes the development of studies, design and construction observation for treatment plants, collection systems, and distribution systems; including, but not limited to, process evaluations and troubleshooting, feasibility studies, bench scale and pilot scale studies, master planning, design, plant operation, and regulatory negotiation/permitting.
- Work with design team across multiple offices and multiple disciplines to generate detailed design documents for construction plans.
- Meet client deadlines and project budgets.
- B.S. Degree in Environmental, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
- M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering (preferred).
- 10+years experience with progressive responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects.
- FL FE required.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft office is required.
- Familiar with Modeling and GIS software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff.
- Water/Wastewater infrastructure experience is a plus.
