About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering & Maintenance to join a leading food manufacturing organization in Lakeland, FL. This opportunity is available as either a direct hire or contract-to-hire position, depending on the selected candidate and business needs.
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing engineering, maintenance, equipment reliability, and capital project initiatives across a high-volume manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in manufacturing operations, maintenance strategy, capital project execution, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all engineering and maintenance operations for the manufacturing facility.
- Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Drive equipment reliability initiatives and implement continuous improvement strategies across the facility.
- Lead engineering capital projects from planning through execution while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage capital and operating budgets for the Engineering and Maintenance departments.
- Build, mentor, and develop engineering and maintenance teams while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Operations, Production, and cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance, production capacity, and overall plant efficiency.
- Coordinate planned shutdowns, major maintenance activities, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
- Manage vendor relationships, contractors, and outside service providers supporting maintenance and capital projects.
- Monitor maintenance and engineering performance metrics to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Support workforce planning, employee development, succession planning, and overall department performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering or maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Experience managing engineering and maintenance budgets, including CAPEX.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of engineering or maintenance experience within manufacturing.
- Experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing.
- Experience with reliability engineering, CMMS systems, and maintenance best practices.
- PMP, CMRP, SMRP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar professional certifications.
- Experience leading CAPEX planning and execution.
- Proven success implementing continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Strong project management experience with multiple concurrent engineering initiatives.
