The Telecommunications Specialist III installs, maintains, and manages the Florida Forest Service's statewide communication system, including mobile and portable radios, repeaters, base stations, and related electronic equipment. The role involves troubleshooting system problems, performing repairs, installing radios and network infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with FCC regulations. The employee serves as the telecommunications manager for their assigned field unit and coordinates with other agencies and local telecommunications companies.
Keyqualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of telecommunications, data processing, electronics or engineering experience (with 2 years in telecommunications)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or electronic engineering
- Valid Class E Driver License
- Ability to perform installation, maintenance and repair of 2-way radios, repeaters, base stations, and network equipment
- Knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations for radio communications
