Description
Experienced Optometric Assistant (South Lakeland) – Established, well-respected, professional Optometry practice is looking for an exceptional Optometric Assistant to join our eye care team.
Job Responsibilities- Clean and prep exam rooms for patients and handle opening/closing duties.
- Perform preliminary testing on patients before seeing the doctor.
- Escort patients to and from exam and diagnostic rooms.
- Instill dilating drops and irrigate patient’s eyes as needed.
- Assist the doctor with special procedures or challenging patients.
- Record data accurately in the patient’s chart and computer.
- Assist patients with contact lens fittings, training, and dispensing.
- File and follow up on vision insurance claims.
- Handle frame and lens selection, dispensing, adjustments, and repairs.
- Order and verify glasses and contact lenses.
- Assist with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and optical duties.
- High School Diploma or higher.
- At least one to two years of training or prior experience in an optical, optometric or ophthalmic practice.
- Prior experience in optical sales, frame selection, lens measurements and recommendations.
- Computer proficiency; prior optical, optometric, or medical EHR experience a plus.
- CPOT, CPO, ABO, NCLE, COT, LDO certifications are a plus but not required.
