Provides orthopedic support services to clinic patients through casting, splinting, and hardware maintenance. Supports the Orthopedic surgeons in their clinical, surgical, and other patient care responsibilities. Proactively support the efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services, and to promote a safe environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Orthopedic Technician
- Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
- Applies, adjusts and removes plaster casts, splints, braces, etc.
- Assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices as directed by a physician.
- Maintains department supplies, inventory/par levels and ordering for the Orthopedic Casting area.
- Responsible for coordinating and arranging for special durable medical equipment (DME) orders which may also require referring the patient to a third-party vendor.
- May assist with cast application as needed on an inpatient unit per physician request.
- Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities.
- Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures.
- Minimum computer skills
- Familiarity with all orthopedic instrumentation, equipment, hardware and procedures.
- Knowledge of basic aseptic technique.
- Ability to do basic casting, splinting and hardware maintenance.
- High School or Equivalent
- Orthopedic Technician training
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
Certifications Preferred:
Certification as an OTC (Orthopedic Technician Certified).
Experience Essential:
One to two years of orthopedic related experience
