Position Summary

The LRH Laboratory Support Supervisor oversees non‑analytical operations within the clinical laboratory, including specimen collection, transport, and processing. This role ensures efficient workflow, staff coordination, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

    • Standard Work:
      Supervisor - Laboratory Support
    • Supervise daily activities of support staff in phlebotomy, specimen management, courier services, and send‑out testing.
    • Coordinate staffing schedules, performance evaluations, and training programs.
    • Monitor and improve workflow patterns to optimize turnaround times and reduce errors.
    • Ensure compliance with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
    • Troubleshoot operational issues and provide technical assistance to staff.
    • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve specimen‑related concerns.
    • Maintain inventory of supplies and oversee equipment maintenance.
    • Participate in developing and implementing new procedures for specimen handling and transport.
    • Oversee and optimize total lab automation systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure all maintenance records are reviewed and signed off to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor Degree
  • In a relevant field such as Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology or Chemistry, Health Sciences, or Healthcare Administration
  • 3-5 years of experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting
Certification Essential
  • ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
  • AMT (American Medical Technologists)
  • AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts)
License Essential
  • State of Florida MLT or MLS
