Position Summary

Responsible for the mental health care of patients in the Department of Psychiatry treatment programs and also serves as a consultant for the treatment teams of patients seen in other clinical departments within Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center (LRHMC). Work in collaboration with the Medical Staff Co Leader and other members of the treatment team in the development of clinical programs.

Standard Work Duties:
Psychologist
  • Carries out job duties in a manner that enhances positive professional relationships with hospital staff, patients, families, and other physicians.
  • Works within the multi‑disciplinary team structure to facilitate positive treatment outcomes.
  • Provides high quality consultation‑liaison services to the other clinical departments within Lakeland Regional Health.
  • Strives to develop clinical patient care opportunities apart from the inpatient mental health unit that meet the care needs of the Lakeland area and are in keeping with the Mission of the hospital (e.g. Outpatient treatment, involvement with care of patients in the chemical dependency treatment programs, development of new treatment programs, provision of clinical or consultation services to other organizations).
  • Provides quality clinical care to assigned patients admitted to the various treatment programs of the Department of Psychiatry. Provides care in keeping with the Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of LRH and the Department of Psychiatry.
  • Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned.
Competencies & Skills
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of psychological assessment instruments.
  • Clear concise report writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a treatment team member. Knowledge and experience implementing evidence‑based treatment plans.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and resolve conflict in a constructive manner.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Doctorate
  • Possess a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Licensed as a psychologist in the state of Florida
Other Information

Experience Essential:
Has conducted psychological evaluations for a variety of mental health problems, such as psychosis, trauma, Autism, ADHD and personality assessments and competency evaluations. At least three years of clinical experience with children and adults. Experience working on a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Experience Preferred:
Experience working with patients who have acute and/or chronic medical condition. Work experience in a hospital setting.
