Position Details

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Position Summary

Responsible for assisting providers with patient care, including clerical and environmental responsibilities as needed. Utilizes technology for scheduling, record preparation, and documentation in the electronic medical record, and provides patient guidance per provider directives.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per provider directives within MA scope.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and restock supplies.
  • Perform all duties in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner.
  • Engage patients and caregivers in care plans and follow up.
Competencies & Skills
  • Knowledge of general medical assisting principles, federal and state regulations, and standard practices.
  • Knowledge of infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality policies.
  • Knowledge of safety practices to prevent workplace hazards and necessary actions.
  • Skill in applying and modifying medical assisting methods for ongoing patient care.
  • Skill in health information management and use of an electronic medical record system.
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic health records (nonessential).
  • Knowledge of HEDIS/Star measures (nonessential).
  • Knowledge of medical insurance, billing, and coding (including ICD-10) (nonessential).
Qualifications & Experience
  • High School or Equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA, RMAN, CCMA, NCMA) required.
  • CPR certification – American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
  • Preferred: 3 years prior experience as a Medical Assistant.
