Position Summary
The Environmental Services (EVS) Coordinator is responsible for assisting the supervisor with day‑to‑day operations, including scheduling, training of staff, monitoring quality, and operating equipment. The role requires training team members, monitoring essential functions, serving as a working lead, and executing daily duties to establish a safe, clean environment. The coordinator contributes to department quality initiatives and assumes shift and operational responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor.
This opening is scheduled for Summer 2026 at 4000 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland, FL.
- Conduct one‑on‑one training sessions using approved techniques, procedures, and educational materials.
- Provide instruction to new hires and current employees in various areas.
- Demonstrate technical skills for cleaning patient & non‑patient rooms, isolation rooms, critical care areas, ER trauma units, public areas, corridors, and other spaces.
- Respond to customer inquiries or complaints using designated engagement techniques.
- Maintain accurate floor‑care logs and checklists; mix chemicals per instructions.
- Model the mission statement and uphold communication standards with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Adhere to Standards of Precaution, SDS, and Hand Hygiene directives.
- Complete mandatory training as required.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement activities.
- Maintain productivity and volume standards for the facility.
- Stay current with all policies and procedures.
- Apply critical thinking to prioritize duties and respond to Stat cleans.
- Identify and utilize resources to ensure issues are followed through.
- Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements and ability to maintain EVS tools and equipment.
- Assist in onboarding new Environmental Services Technicians (Levels I–V) as requested.
- Perform cleaning duties (patient bed, furniture, light fixtures, ceiling vents, windows, etc.).
- Replenish supplies and use bed management system programs.
- Provide shift oversight, conduct new‑hire 60‑day evaluations, and assist with annual competencies.
- Interface with supervisors, office coordinators, ops managers, and directors.
- Proactively handle improvement opportunities; lead or participate in performance improvement projects.
- Research, coordinate, and implement core training programs and systems.
- Develop evaluation systems to measure educational effectiveness and adjust programs.
- Select training materials with department director/manager and maintain training records.
- Establish EVS continuing‑education calendar, complete training evaluations, and produce critique reports.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- DOT (Department of Transportation) Certification.
- (CSCT) Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician.
- (CHEST) Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional.
- Five (5) years of healthcare environmental services experience.
- Analytical and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Bed Management Systems.
