Role Overview

The Accounting Automation & AI Team is a newly formed group focused on automating complex business processes and applying AI to reduce repetitive, cognitively demanding tasks. In this role you will serve as a technical and analytical leader, collaborating with business and technology teams to evaluate processes, define system and automation requirements, and design innovative AI‑enabled solutions.

Location & Work Model

Hybrid (Lakeland, FL) – you will work remotely for focus time and on‑site for high‑impact collaboration and brainstorming sessions.

Impact

  • Lead and facilitate application requirements and solution design meetings using Agile and traditional methodologies.
  • Translate business needs into comprehensive functional, technical, and system requirements documentation.
  • Partner with architects, developers, and vendors to design, validate, and deliver automation and AI‑enabled solutions.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and primary escalation point for assigned applications and solutions.
  • Mentor business systems analysts on best practices for requirements analysis and documentation standards.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for automation and process improvement using emerging technologies.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and lead system validation, release, and production support activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related analytical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of business systems analysis experience.
  • 5+ years of experience planning, organizing, and leading solution delivery in a large‑scale distributed environment.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing complex problems and translating them into scalable technology solutions.
  • 5+ years working with enterprise database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and leadership in defined roles.
  • Experience designing and supporting business process improvements.
  • Experience in an Agile environment using Azure Dev Ops or similar tools.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, teamwork, and contributions to team productivity and morale.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 9+ years of business systems analysis experience.
  • 9+ years of experience planning, organizing, and managing enterprise solution delivery.
  • 9+ years of experience leading implementation solutions, resolving delivery bottlenecks, and managing timelines.
  • Working knowledge of Automation and AI technologies (RPA, Agentic AI, ML, DL, LLMs).
  • Knowledge of modern cloud‑based architectures (Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Advanced data analysis experience with queries, result interpretation, and insight communication.
  • Project, change, and enterprise systems development methodology experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining high quality and delivery standards.
  • Experience supporting data and process governance for accounting systems in compliance with policies and SOX.

Year‑End Bonus

Publix offers a one‑month extra pay bonus, pro‑rated in the first year, to associates who remain employed through the issue date of the bonus check. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the potential annual pay with bonus line.
