Flexo Multi-Color Press Operator Printing Services - Lakeland

Description

The main function of this position is to print flexographic (Flexo) inks and coatings on a variety of web substrates including coated and uncoated papers, thermal‑sensitive materials, and synthetics. The role requires setting up and operating four different web printing presses: an eight‑color Mark Andy LP3430 (17‑inch wide) and an eight‑color Mark Andy LP3250 (10‑inch wide), both with Martin automatic equipment on each end;

a five‑color Webtron 7.5‑inch wide press; and a four‑color Webtron 6.5‑inch wide press.

• Read and understand written job specifications to produce each job correctly.
• Set up, safely, efficiently, and operate the four web Flexo presses.
• Maintain and keep the presses clean for optimal performance.
• Accurately record production time and material usage using shop‑floor data collection terminals.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds, walk, stand, bend, and squat for up to 14 hours per day.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Adaptable and versatile in changing work conditions.
• Willingness to work variable schedules, including weekends and holidays, sometimes on short notice.
• Basic math and measurement knowledge.

• Associate of Science in graphic arts/printing.
• Minimum two years operating eight‑color Flexo presses.
• Certification(s) from a graphic arts college or trade school.
• Knowledge of Publix and Printing Services policies and procedures.
• Comprehensive printing knowledge, including pre‑press and post‑press processes.
• Advanced knowledge of flexographic web printing and inking systems.
• Familiarity with UV coating systems and continuous‑flow inking.
• Understanding of web printing substrates and support systems.
• Experience with barcode reproduction and inspection systems.
• Knowledge of Martin automatic systems (unwind‑roll‑to‑roll butt splicer, roll‑fed transfer rewind).
• Understanding of drying, tension control, and quality‑control methodologies for four‑color process printing.
• Advanced press set‑up, operation, and maintenance experience on the four presses listed.
• Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets, Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out, and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Experience with shop‑floor data collection and volume/weight calculations.
• High mechanical aptitude and diagnostic problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to use specialized printing tools.
