Job Description

We’re partnering with a well‑established steel company in the Lakeland, FL area that is seeking Fitter/Welders. In this role you will be fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components in a fabrication shop environment. The role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols, use hand and power tools, and work closely with welders and quality control to ensure all assemblies meet project specifications and quality standards.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine proper layout and assembly of structural steel components.
  • Identify CNC‑scribed markings and use them to accurately position plates, beams, columns, and other structural members.
  • Measure, mark, align, and fit steel components according to specifications and tolerances.
  • Use hand tools, measuring devices, clamps, and fitting equipment to properly secure components.
  • Tack weld fitted components to hold assemblies in place for final welding.
  • Work closely with Quality Control (QC) to ensure fitted assemblies meet quality and safety standards prior to welding.
  • Coordinate with welders to release approved assemblies for final weld completion.
  • Rotate through different stages of the fabrication and fitting process as needed to support workflow and production schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with safety regulations.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience as a structural steel fitter or similar fabrication role
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
  • Strong understanding of structural steel components and fabrication processes
  • Proficiency using measuring tools (tape measure, squares, levels) and fitting tools
  • Basic welding knowledge and ability to perform tack welds
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced shop environment
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
What You Can Expect
  • $20.00 - $27.00/hr depending on experience and test results
  • Regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 4:30pm – 2:30am
  • Training schedule Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm
