Team Leader Fresh Kitchen - Lakeland

Responsibilities

• Perform daily tasks in the work area within the team, which includes:
  • On‑floor work participation with associates
  • Covering unplanned absences and vacations
  • Understanding and maintaining all department reports and procedures
  • Coordinating breaks and lunch schedules
  • Overseeing and understanding equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, and work orders
  • Assisting managers with associate scheduling
  • Understanding production and executing department requirements
  • Maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Promoting and enforcing quality and food‑safety standards
  • Serving as a role model for associates
  • Planning and conducting job skill training, including writing Skill Breakdown Sheets (SBSs) and conducting Job Instruction Training (JIT)
  • Leading and driving improvement of plant operations
  • Analyzing and understanding KPIs and data
  • Performing day‑to‑day tasks of the Department Manager/Assistant Department Manager in their absence (e.g., production scheduling and planning)
  • Other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Minimum age of 18 years
• Ability to learn and perform all positions in the department
• Understanding of plant policies, practices, procedures, and requirements
• Planning, organizing, and following through on assignments
• Forklift license and operation capability
• Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds
• Willingness to travel to specialized training
• High level of maturity, discretion, tact, and judgment
• Good computer and software skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Thorough knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) program
• Ability to use industrial‑strength chemicals
• Basic mechanical skills
• Ability to climb ladders

• Some college coursework in Business, Engineering, and/or Food Science
• Department experience related to this position

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus equals 15 hours of pay, and in the second year the bonus equals one week’s pay if the associate remains employed through the issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus equals two weeks’ pay.
