Join Our Team as a Newsprint Handler! We are offering $18.25 an hour based on experience. Full Time - 1 st Shift- Monday-Friday

Overview:Paper - it's even in the name, news paper , and we use a lot of it! Over 12,000 1,800-pound rolls of newsprint are used each year in our Lakeland, Florida production facility. Each roll must be unloaded from a truck, stored in stacks in our warehouse, counted, pulled from the warehouse as needed, opened and made ready for use, and moved to a holding area awaiting use by the press.
All of this is the responsibility of a Newsprint Handler.
- Excellent fork truck skills - clamp truck experience is a plus.
- Basic computer skills.
- Mechanically inclined to aid in troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to stand, stoop, walk and bend down, as well as be able to lift up to 80 pounds and push a 2,000-pound roll of newsprint.
- Unload multiple truckloads of newsprint daily.
- Maintain organization of the paper warehouse.
- Accurately take inventory of the various types and sizes of newsprint in stock.
- Based on productions requirements, pull newsprint from the warehouse, open and move to a holding area to await use by the press.
- Handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Adapt to rapidly changing production requirements.
- Solve problems analytically and act on your own initiative.
- Identify and mitigate damaged newsprint.
- Communicate with transportation and logistics partners regarding arrival of shipments.
- Take the lead and maintain a team environment
- Cross-train to provide support as a Reel Tender.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete required OSHA safety training programs.
- Perform daily safety checks of warehouse fork and clamp trucks.
- Report any safety hazards, operational concerns, and accidents/injuries immediately.
- Provide timely and accurate inventory reports to the operations and finance teams.
- Report equipment issues promptly.
- Communicate instructions and train Newsprint Handlers
