Summary/Objective

This position supports, facilitates and coordinates daily clinical trial activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of clinical studies. By performing these duties, the individual works with the PI, department, sponsor, and institution to support and provide guidance on the administration of the compliance, financial, personnel and other related aspects of clinical studies.

• Assesses the patient, using the nursing process as required for the specific study.
• Coordinates patient care per protocol schedule, using the nursing process.
• Assists with medical procedures at the clinic or in the hospital for the particular study protocol.
• Schedules and performs patient “instruction” visits and offers emotional support.
• Administers medication including injections and IVs; documents medication given or prescribed by ordering physician as required by specialty.
• Collaborates research studies with sponsors and physicians.
• Demonstrates an awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
• Uses interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working relationships within the department and the Clinic. Demonstrates tact, courtesy, self-control, and discretion in interactions with others. Is regarded as a team player by co-workers and other departments.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service practices by greeting customers/patients in a friendly and courteous manner and offering assistance when needed. Is responsive to customer/patient needs, demonstrating a sensitivity to individual special needs and cultural diversity. Highly supportive of other staff in accomplishing whatever needs to be done to serve the customer/patient.
• Maintains good attendance record and is generally punctual and reliable. Arrives on time to meetings and is prepared as required. Demonstrates strong work ethic by being available when needed and willing to do whatever needs to be done.

Travel to study-related meetings may be required.

Five or more years of nursing experience or three years of research experience.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred;
Experience in cardiology or oncology preferred.

• Active Florida RN license.
• CPR certification to be completed within three months of employment. Maintain CPR certification in current status.
• Credentialed at the hospital before assisting surgeries or interacting with patients at LRMC.
• Self-directed, independent thinker, and autonomous.
• Assists with study finances and budgeting.
