THE OPPORTUNITY:

You will have the opportunity to work in an independent 17025 ISO‑accredited laboratory that invests heavily in state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation and analytical technologies and works with a multitude of Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers (MMTC) to provide them with high‑quality analytical data. Modern Canna Laboratories is seeking a microbiologist with qPCR experience. You would be joining our laboratory team in Lakeland, FL that is responsible for analytical work in a fast‑paced, high‑throughput laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform analyses and/or aid other employees performing analyses utilizing standard method or equipment as appropriate
  • Maintain knowledge of the quality assurance manual and standard operating procedures required for performance of analyses
  • Participate in sample prep and compositing when workload allows
  • Maintain knowledge of chemicals utilized in analyses
  • Update standard operating procedures when necessary
  • Work with the lead analyst and/or Technical Director on analyses if questions or concerns arise
  • Contact the QA Manager and/or Laboratory Director if the quality control on an analysis does not meet the requirements
  • Monitor microbial inventory
  • Perform basic daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance on instrumentation used for their corresponding analysis
  • Assist with instrument troubleshooting
  • Maintain knowledge of chemicals utilized in analyses
WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology or a related field
  • 2 or more years experience in an analytical laboratory preferred
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of qPCR preferred
  • Experience pipetting and/or plating preferred
  • Experience working with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) preferred
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 environment preferred
