Director of Sales, Business Development, Account Manager
We are seeking a results-driven and commercially astute sales leader to take on the role of US Sales Leader, with responsibility for leading and developing our sales team across the United States and wider North American market. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, this pivotal role owns the delivery of new and existing revenue for our Pharma Services and Medical Device offerings, driving a robust pipeline and converting opportunities into profitable, long-term customer partnerships.
As a private-equity-backed CDMO at an exciting stage of its growth journey, the business looks to this role to accelerate commercial performance, build and motivate a high-performing sales organization, and translate our market positioning into measurable bookings and EBITDA contribution. The successful candidate will be a credible, customer-facing leader who can operate with pace and accountability in a regulated environment while building an inclusive, high-performing culture aligned to our values.
This is a working manager (player-coach) role: alongside leading the team, the post-holder will personally own and manage a defined set of key accounts and carry an individual sales target.
- Lead, develop, and motivate the North American sales team, setting clear targets, territories, and accountabilities to attain and surpass the annual Company Sales Budget.
- Build a high-performing commercial culture grounded in pipeline discipline, forecasting accuracy, and CRM rigor, with structured goal-setting, coaching, and talent development.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain sales talent, building succession depth and capability to support the company’s growth plan.
- Own the North American sales number across Pharma Services and/or Medical Devices, driving both new business and the development of existing strategic accounts.
- As a working manager, personally own and manage a defined portfolio of key accounts, carrying an individual sales target and leading by example alongside team leadership responsibilities.
- Identify, cultivate, and prioritize opportunities to ensure a robust, diverse, and well-qualified sales pipeline sufficient to deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth.
- Drive conversion of opportunities into sales, working closely with Operations, Quality, Program Management, and Marketing to deliver compelling proposals, site tours, and client due-diligence support.
- Act as a senior commercial contact for key customers, building trusted, long-term partnerships at executive level across the North American market.
- Articulate our market positioning and value proposition with clarity and credibility, differentiating our CDMO offering in a competitive landscape.
- Maintain market intelligence on industry trends, competitor activity, customer needs, and regulatory change, leveraging insight to inform commercial strategy.
- Contribute to the North American go-to-market strategy in partnership with the CCO, aligning sales plans to corporate growth objectives and the PE value-creation plan.
- Provide regular, accurate reporting on pipeline, bookings, forecast, and KPIs — comfortable with a disciplined reporting cadence and contributing to Board and investor reporting.
- Support commission and incentive design in partnership with Finance and HR, ensuring plans drive the intended sales behaviors and outcomes.
- Experience in sales team management in North America within Pharma Services and/or Medical Devices is essential.
- A proven history of successful sales team management and sales achievement in Pharma Services and/or Medical Device sales.
- Knowledge of our market position, and of the wider CDMO / contract services competitive landscape.
- Superior communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate our marketing positioning to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable with regular reporting requirements, with demonstrable experience in Board and/or investor reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain customer relationships at senior / executive level within a services or CDMO business.
