General Job Description

Do you love sharing your plumbing knowledge and helping others succeed? We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Assistant Plumbing Instructor with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on industry experience in residential construction to train and mentor the next generation of plumbers. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of plumbing systems, installation processes, codes, and safety practices—along with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to students of varying skill levels.

This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as patience and professionalism. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams) and being bilingual are pluses. Prior teaching or training experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lead Instructor in all areas of the plumbing training program
  • Deliver engaging instruction that aligns with current plumbing code and industry standards
  • Demonstrate proper plumbing tools, installation methods, and jobsite best practices
  • Enforce company safety rules and procedures at all times
  • Help manage classroom operations and maintain a productive learning environment
  • Support the creation and updating of learning materials and instructional resources
  • Evaluate student progress and provide coaching, feedback, and encouragement
  • Promote professionalism, accountability, and strong work ethic among students

Specific Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on plumbing experience, preferably in residential construction
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Plumbing systems and installation processes
    • Safety practices and procedures
    • Current plumbing code (local/state awareness preferred)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students and staff
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching, mentoring, coaching, or training experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English preferred)
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform tasks in a classroom and hands-on training environment, including:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Demonstrating plumbing tools and techniques
  • Lifting and carrying materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as needed
  • Ability to work in training lab environments that may include noise, dust, and varying temperatures
