Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 8am-5pm
Cox Fleet is the leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile on-site fleet service for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers, as well as support through its 50+ nationwide service centers.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, gas and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air‑conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, assess information accuracy, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory on a company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliations.
- Maintain and operate a company‑issued service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks to manage time efficiently.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards, uploading photos and parts used to Repair Orders ("RO") via the proprietary TRAIT application on an iOS device.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation promptly.
- Manage own daily schedule independently.
- Maintain a high level of productivity, meeting or approaching standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimate approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; or a degree/certification beyond HS diploma with five years of related experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in related maintenance work.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
- Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Must hold a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining; if not, a DOT physical is required.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Class C Driver’s License required.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
