Job Summary:

The role of Superintendent is to oversee, coordinate and manage all onsite construction activities, including safety, logistics, schedule, day to day trade activities, document management, meetings, compliance, completion and turnover. As well the Superintendent shall assist the Project Manager in the construction activities. Superintendent is to have a commanding knowledge of the site and its progress in all areas and with all Subs/Suppliers which are assigned to the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate industrial boiler maintenance, repair, outage, retrofit, and installation activities from mobilization through commissioning and turnover.
  • Provide field oversight for work involving industrial boilers and associated pressure parts, including boiler tubes, headers, drums, piping, economizers, superheaters, reheaters, air preheaters, burners, ductwork, and related auxiliary equipment, as applicable to project scope.
  • Coordinate outage activities, including shutdown planning, equipment access, inspections, repair sequencing, testing, startup support, and return-to-service activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, P&IDs, welding procedures, repair plans, inspection reports, and project scope documents to ensure field activities are performed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise boiler tube removal, replacement, fitting, welding, and associated pressure-part repair activities.
  • Oversee refractory, insulation, casing, ductwork, structural steel, and other boiler-related repair and maintenance activities when included within project scope.
  • Coordinate qualified welders, pipe fitters, boilermakers, millwrights, subcontractors, inspectors, and other craft personnel required to complete work safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure boiler welding and pressure-part repairs are performed in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Identify and communicate boiler conditions discovered during outages or inspections that may require additional repair scope, materials, manpower, schedule adjustments, or customer authorization.
  • Work with the Project Manager to develop repair plans, manpower requirements, material needs, equipment requirements, and schedules for boiler outages and maintenance projects.
  • Monitor project productivity, manpower, material usage, equipment utilization, schedule performance, and work quality and communicate potential impacts to the Project Manager.
  • Verify proper material identification, handling, storage, fit-up, installation, and documentation for boiler pressure-part repairs and replacements.
  • Ensure applicable lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined-space entry, fall protection, hot-work, line-breaking, respiratory protection, and other safety requirements are implemented and followed during boiler work.
  • Coordinate work performed inside boiler furnaces, drums, ductwork, and other confined or restricted-access areas, ensuring required permits, atmospheric monitoring, ventilation, rescue provisions, and access controls are maintained.
  • Participate in pre-outage planning, daily coordination meetings, job hazard analyses, toolbox meetings, customer meetings, and post-outage reviews.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation for boiler repairs, including daily reports, weld documentation, inspection records, testing documentation, repair locations, material records, redlines, punch lists, and turnover packages.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field.
Experience:
  • 5-15 years of relevant construction experience required, preferably in the Power Generation industry, industrial maintenance & construction.
  • Proven experience managing projects successfully from start to finish.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of industrial boiler systems, pressure parts, boiler auxiliaries, and common boiler maintenance and repair practices.
