Youth Build-Lakeland is designed to provide youth of diverse backgrounds, ages 16 to 24, from high-needs population within Polk County with rigorous academic instruction, occupational skills training, and viable pathways to post-secondary education and/or employment. This is a grant funded position.

Responsibilities:

The Youth Build Case Manager conduct needed recruitment, enrollment, and assessment activities. Provide supportive services (childcare referrals, transportation assistance) to ensure participants will be available and ready to begin training. Schedule ongoing counseling support, advocacy, follow-up and guidance to program members of Youth Build-Lakeland grant-funded project to assist them in dealing with their academic, personal, legal, and social service needs, especially those needs that interfere with their ability to meet the program requirements and their personal goals.

The Youth Build Case Manager provides intensive case management and follow-up while working closely with the entire Youth Build-Lakeland staff to build leadership skills in the youth and to refer the youth to community services.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology education or related field required
  • A minimum of three (3) years' counseling, or crisis intervention experience with young adults preferred
  • Must possess a strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills and enable them to make a difference in their community
  • Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multi-racial and multi-cultural group of young people
  • Understanding of the issues facing young people in the community where the program is located and a willingness to learn from young people
  • Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of issues, people and institutions
  • Knowledge of human service, health, court and criminal justice systems' programs, regulations, procedures, and alternative programs
  • Effective public speaking, listening and written communication skills team-oriented with a sense of humor and non-judgmental attitude
Compensations:

From: $1,884.62

To: $2,038.46
