Community Outreach Facilitator

Under general supervision, conducts investigations and provides assistance in resolving student truancy problems. An employee in this class receives and researches attendance referrals to determine appropriate course of action. Work requires the exercise of independent judgment and initiative in investigating, analyzing, and helping to resolve truancy problems. Work requires contact with parents, students, school official#s citizens, and various governmental agencies as appropriate.

Reports to an administrator who reviews work for compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

Analyzes district-wide attendance data to identify emerging trends, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and recommend improvements to attendance policies and procedures.
Receives attendance referrals from individual schools or others and reviews to determine appropriate course of action to solve attendance problems. Researches truancy issues by making home visits to interview parents, community members, and others to secure applicable information to assist in resolving truancy issues. Interprets compulsory school attendance laws to parents/students and informs them of consequences for violations. Provides follow-up through home visits, letters, and phone contact with students, parents, and others to assist in solving truancy problems.

Coordinates action to resolve problems with students, parents, and other agency personnel.
Facilitates structured problem-solving conferences with families, school staff, and community partners to identify root causes of absenteeism and establish actionable solutions.
Collaborates with community organizations to develop and strengthen partnerships that support family stability, student engagement, and access to essential resources. Monitors student attendance to document progress. Makes referrals to community agencies in accordance with policies.
Leads case management efforts for high-risk students by coordinating services, tracking progress, and ensuring follow-through across multiple agencies and support systems. Provides follow-up information to school personnel and other staff regarding attendance. Compiles information, maintains records, and prepares correspondence, detailed reports and other job-related information and materials.
Reviews investigations, reports, and other data to analyze and make recommendations regarding truancy problems. Works with attendance social workers in planning school assemblies for students and school personnel.
Supports crisis intervention efforts by identifying students experiencing significant social or emotional challenges and coordinating immediate assistance with appropriate agencies. Responds to inquiries and provides information regarding truancy matters, issues, policies, and procedures. Acts as a representative of the school district on truancy matters with local. State, and federal agencies.
Ensures compliance with state and district reporting requirements by reviewing attendance data for accuracy and assisting schools with correcting discrepancies. Checks school- age children who may be observed to be out of schools during school hours.
Collaborates with law enforcement, juvenile justice, and child welfare agencies on cases involving educational neglect, safety concerns, or legal intervention related to truancy.
Collaborates with Specialized Services to provide additional on-campus support during school events or situations requiring increased personnel presence.
Maintains on-call availability with Specialized Services to conduct emergency screenings and provide essential coverage when support staff are not present.
Operates an automobile in performance of duties. Performs related work as required.
