Construction equipment operators drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery used to construct roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures. A loader operator uses the front end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or dumps and spreads material on site.
Job Description- Perform a basic equipment inspection to ensure that the functions properly
- Report malfunctions to supervisors
- Drive and maneuver equipment
- Coordinate actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals
- Ensure that safety standards are met
- Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts
- Overtime and weekend work may be required
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
- 3-5 years or more of industry related experience required, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges
- Must demonstrate the ability to operate the loader
- Demonstrate professionalism
- Have a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
- Multi-task and set priorities effectively
- Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
- Accomplish goals in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license issued within the United States clear of multiple and/or major violations
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, vehicle records check, and criminal background check
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire
