Loader Operator Pipe Crew, Lakeland FL

Construction equipment operators drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery used to construct roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures. A loader operator uses the front end loader to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or dumps and spreads material on site.

• Perform a basic equipment inspection to ensure that the functions properly
• Report malfunctions to supervisors
• Drive and maneuver equipment
• Coordinate actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals
• Ensure that safety standards are met
• Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts
• Overtime and weekend work may be required
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs on a regular basis
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
• 3-5 years or more of industry related experience required, with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges
• Must demonstrate the ability to operate the loader
• Demonstrate professionalism
• Have a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
• Multi-task and set priorities effectively
• Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
• Accomplish goals in a team environment
• Valid driver’s license issued within the United States clear of multiple and/or major violations
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, vehicle records check, and criminal background check
